Money is tight these days, and for many business owners, a low budget can mean settling for an office space that’s smaller than they might like. Cramped workspaces can mean growing pains for staff and business owners alike, but it’s entirely possible to be successful in a small space. Use these tips to decrease clutter, improve usability, and work with the space you do have.

Clear a path: Having too much stuff in your office can create problems, especially if you’re a small business owner working out of a home office. Putting things like coffee tables in the middle of the room can lead to bruised shins and a lot of frustration— move furniture so you have a clear walkway from your workstation to your filing cabinets and so forth.

Clean up your desk: Your mother probably told you to clean up after yourself when you were a child, and you still need to do that now that you’re an adult. Look at your desk, and decide what needs to stay there (and what doesn’t). Getting rid of desktop clutter will leave you with more space for things that really matter.

Use trays and caddies to organize your workspace: Plastic and metal trays are widely available at office supply stores, and many are made specifically to nest in a desk drawer. Use these to organize your office supplies— that way, when you need a pen or a paperclip, you’ll be able to find it easily.

Update your technology: Are office machines cluttering your office or lowering your productivity? Does your PC need a memory upgrade? If the answer to either of those questions is “yes”, you may need to buy new office equipment. There are all-in-one printer/scanner/copier/fax machines, as well as other equipment to streamline your office and reduce desktop disorganization.

Consider using a storage service: If you have multiple file cabinets full of documents and records, you’re probably not using your office space in the most efficient way. Space used to store documents is space that could be used for something else; to free up some room in your office, consider using a secure, third-party document storage service. Some of these allow you to scan and upload your documents yourself, and some will do the work for you, for a fee. You won’t have to worry about losing important records, as they’re backed up off-site. You’ll also have a neater, more organized office— what could be better than that?

To make the most of your office space, organization is key. Whether you work from home, or in a corporate setting, having an organized office is a sure way to make your work day go more smoothly. By clearing away the clutter, updating your technology, and using document storage solutions, you’ll ensure that you have what you need, when you need it.

Leeds United have today unveiled plans for the brand new Elland Road stadium and revealed how it could look if they are granted a gambling license to run a casino in the grounds. The nPower Championship club have recently applied to construct a large casino in the grounds of the stadium. They are looking to redevelop the club’s West Stand and wish to include a 2 floor casino within this.

It has been announced that Leeds United would NOT be running the casino themselves if the application is successful, but would be seeking to appoint a specialist partner to run it. Discussions have taken place with a number of possible partners already, however nothing is set at stone at this moment in time.

The potential of the casino coming to Leeds United is an exciting one and fits perfectly within our business plan of increasing revenue streams on non-match days, both in isolation and to complement, either our existing facilities or those that are planned,” said Shaun Harvey, LUFC chief executive. “The increase in non-match day income will allow us to further invest on the field to see the return of Premier League football at Elland Road.”

4 companies have applied for a ‘large casino license’ in Leeds, the others being Global Gaming Ventures, Grosvenor Casinos, London Clubs International and Rushbond.
